California, Feb 19: It seems like Microsoft acquired some 'bonus' with the announcement of their "broad strategic alliance" with Finnish phone maker Nokia. This alliance gifted more popularity for their Windows Phone 7 OS and now, new manufactures are coming forward to embrace the WP7 platform.

According to various technology blogs reports, leading laptop maker Acer plans to join the WP7 wandbagon. Acer is planning to launch new smartphone running on WP7 OS by Sep 2011. Acer aims to grab the market before the launch of Nokia's WP7 phones.

Also, it is expected that WP7 will get the update, code named as WP 7.5 Mango, by Sep. So, we can expect early OS update for Acer smartphones, which will give a upper-hand over other WP7 smartphones.

Earlier during the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2011) in Barcelona, Acer unveiled an Android smartphone called Acer Iconia Smart and two tablet PCs, Acer Iconia Tab A100 and Acer Iconia Tab A500. With the predictions of smartphones beating computers in sales, Acer aims to expand their hands to all possible fields.
