Hyderabad, Jan 5: Former Kadapa MP, YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who resigned from Congress, has named his new party as YSR Party and filed an application to Election Commission to register the party.
YS Jagan, the son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister late YS Rajashekhara Reddy, resigned from Congress on Nov 29 along with his mother Vijayalakshmi citing that Congress leadership humiliated him and his family after his fathers death in a helicopter crash in Sep 2009.
YS Jagan's uncle, YV Subba Reddy, handed over the application for the new party to Election Commission. Sources said that YS Jagan decided Youth Sramik Ryot (YSR) Congress as the name of the new party, but his close followers advised him to remove the word 'Congress'.
Sources from Hyderabad reported that YS Jagan will contest in Kadapa during the bye-elections. It is not clear that who will contest in Pulivendula assembly constituency, which was vacated by his mother Vijayalaxmi.
