Back Pain Treatment

The diet of persons suffering from backache should consist of plenty of raw vegetables and fresh fruits. Raw vegetables for salad may include carrot, cabbage, cucumber, radish, onion and lettuce. Take at least two steamed or lightly cooked vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, carrot, spinach and liberal quantities of fresh fruits.

Having four meals daily is advisable. Meals should include fresh fruits and milk for breakfast, steamed vegetable, whole wheat chapattis for lunch, a fresh fruit or juice in the evening and a bowl of raw salad, sprouts for dinner.

Avoid fatty, spicy and fried foods, curd, sweet meals, sugar condiments as well as tea and coffee. Those who smoke and take tobacco in any form should restrict completely.

Proteins and vitamin C are necessary for the development of a healthy bone matrix. Vitamin D, calcium phosphorus and the essential trace minerals are required for healthy bones. Foods which are processed for storage to avoid spoiling have lesser nutrients and should be eliminated from the diet. Vitamin C has proved helpful in relieving low-back pain and averting spinal disc operations.

Certain food remedies have been found beneficial in the treatment of backbone. The most important of them is to use of garlic two or three capsules if this vegetable should be taken daily in the morning. It will give good results. Oil prepared from garlic and rubbed on the back will give great relief. This oil is prepared by frying 10 cloves of garlic in 60 grams of oil in a frying pan. It should be fried till garlic turn brown. After it is cooled, oil should be applied vigorously on the back and allow remaining there for three hours.
