As part of the probe into the 2G spectrum allocation scam, the CBI on Tuesday questioned corporate lobbyist Niira Radia, whose tapped conversations with Ministers, journalists and industrialists were made public recently.

Sources in the CBI said sleuths went to Ms. Radia's farmhouse in south Delhi in the morning to interrogate her.

The interrogation comes a day after the CBI issued notice to the former Communications Minister, A. Raja, asking him to appear before it for interrogation.

On Monday, the CBI interrogated the former Telecom Regulatory Authority of India chairman, Pradip Baijal.

The CBI had searched Ms. Radia's residence and the official premises of her public relations firm, Vaishnavi Communications, in central Delhi. She has been questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over money-laundering charges.

The multi-agency probe into the irregularities in the 2G spectrum allocation is being monitored by the Supreme Court. It has asked the CBI and the ED to submit status reports on their probe by February 10, when the case will come up for further hearing.

CAG report

In its report to Parliament, the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India said the spectrum allocation at under-valued prices in 2008 resulted in a loss of Rs.1.76 lakh crore to the exchequer.

Mr. Raja resigned from the Union Cabinet last month.
