Rebels attend Cabinet meet; Jagan woos ministers

Hyderabad, Dec 3: Giving a ray of hope to Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, the rebel Congress ministers in the newly formed Andhra Pradesh government have attended the Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Dec 2 evening.

The rebel ministers, who were unhappy with the portfolios they received in the Cabinet, attended the metting after speaking to Congress national leaders. Earlier on Thursday, Union Law Minister and AICC in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, Veerappa Moily and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad spoke to rebel leader Botsa Satyanarayana.

"I never said I am unhappy with the portfolio. But the distribution of portfollos, funds allocation and other issues should have a scientific method. Backward classes, who constitute 80 per cent of population, should get proper representation. I told our leadership that some negligence took place on this count," Satyanarayana said after the Cabinet meeting.

However, the resigned Tourism Minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar did not attend the Cabinet meeting. Sources close to Vasantha Kumar said that he is planning to team up with YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

AP: BJP offers alliance with YS Jagan

Hyderabad, Dec 3: Trying to fish in muddy waters, Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) is in a move to make an alliance with former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who is launching his new political party in Andhra Pradesh.

Sources reported that BJP leaders have contacted YS Jagan, son of former Chief Minister late YS Rajashekhara Reddy, and extended their offer of tie-up to form a new political block in Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier on Thursday, Dec 2, YS Jagan had announced his plan of launching the new party. He also invited other Congress leaders to join his party.

The Chief spokesman of the Jagan Group, Ambati Rambabu has told the media that YS Jagan will launch his political party soon.

"Jagan will come in front of the media very soon and announce the new party. His new political party will become very strong and replace the Congress party in the state" Rambabu said.

Meanwhile, the rebel Congress ministers, who expressed their dissatisfaction with the new portfolios, have attended the Cabinet meeting on Thursday evening.

KADAPA: Continuing his attack on the congress high command, former MP Y S jagan mohan reddy on Friday alleged that the party leadership has hatched a conspiracy to split his family.

Addressing a meeting of supporters from his native Pulivendula assembly constituency, he claimed that Congress high command tried to split his family in a bid to weaken him.

Jagan, who quit Congress earlier this month, had alleged in his resignation letter to party president sonia gandhi that the high command tried to divide his family by offering a cabinet berth to his uncle Y S Vivekananda Reddy.

Though some family members tried to bring about a rapprochement between Jagan and his uncle, the efforts failed.

Jagan had earlier announced that he would launch a political party in about 45 days.

The bypolls to be held for the Pulivendula assembly seat and the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat, vacated by his mother Vijayalakshmi and himself respectively, are going be a fight between his self-respect slogan and the scheming Congress leadership, he said.

Jagan also said the party to be launched by him would herald a 'golden age' after the next assembly elections in 2014.
