Congress Using TRS As Pawn: TDP

13th Jan, 2011: Alleging the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Congress leaders of colluding with each other, senior Telugu Desam Party leader Devender Goud stated that the two parties were misleading the people of Telangana, promising them a separate state while only deriving political mileage.

Speaking to media persons at the NTR Trust Bhavan, Goud charged TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao of deceiving the people in the name of Telangana. He said that the ultimate aim of Congress was to weaken TDP and build its own image as the "champion of Telangana".

The oft-repeated claims of the Congress, that it alone can "give and bring Telangana", were evidence enough of this grand plan, Goud said.

He also added that TRS chief KCR was being used as a pawn in the political chessboard, by the Congress leaders.

He alleged that KCR has become a part of the Congress' larger plan of projecting itself as the champion of the Telanganaites' aspirations and sentiments.

The former home minister charged the Congress government with failing to address peoples' problems, and that the party was so beset with its internal squabbles that it had no time to concentrate on governance.
