The vuvuzela is back, this time as part of official Commonwealth Games products launched at the Organising Committee headquarters on Thursday.
Along with Premier Brands, the OC launched an initial range of 25 products, including t-shirts, jackets, stationery, mugs, bags, luxury products, handicraft items and the vuvuzela, a musical instrument that became popular at the FIFA World cup this year.
While luxury items like the Rs 7,000 brass gong will target foreign delegates and players, OC treasurer A K Mattoo said everyone should get a piece of the Games and so “other items have been priced between Rs 25 and Rs 300”.
With a badge being the cheapest item and a glass clock the most expensive on the list, the OC said the items will be available for everyone at an affordable price.
Suresh Kumar, the chairman of Premier Brands, who are the official manufacturer of the Games merchandise, said: “The items will be available at the OC office store and in the run up to the Games, more items would be added to the list.”

Wrestler Sushil Kumar, who won the bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, said: “The Games are a matter of pride and everyone should be a part of it.”
The products will be available online from September 6.
Later, Mattoo, in the absence of OC chief Suresh Kalmadi, inaugurated four ‘Come out and play’ vans which will tour the NCR selling merchandise to schools, colleges, malls and residential societies.
“The Games is a precious event. Our aim is to generate widespread awareness. We’re confident that the Games merchandise will become a part of everyone’s emotion and culminate in an experience to relish,” Suresh Kumar said.
